Paint correction is machine polishing done carefully, in stages, to level the clear coat and bring back the gloss. Since paint is our specialty, we know exactly how far a finish can be safely corrected and when it can't.
Paint correction is the process of machine polishing the clear coat to remove the defects sitting in its surface: swirl marks from automatic car washes, light scratches, water spot etching, oxidation, and general dullness. We measure the paint's thickness, then level the surface with progressively finer polishing steps until the defects are gone and the gloss is back. It's the permanent version of what a glaze or wax only hides for a few weeks.
Clear coat is thin and it doesn't grow back. Aggressive or careless polishing burns through it, and then the panel needs paint. Proper correction removes the least material necessary, which preserves the finish for the life of the car. The payoff is real: corrected paint looks deeper and darker, reflections go sharp, and a daily driver can look close to new again without a respray.
Consider correction when your paint looks hazy in direct sun, when you can see spiderweb swirls under parking lot lights, or when dark paint has gone flat and gray. It's also the right finishing step after we repair a panel, so the whole car matches the fresh work. If the damage goes through the clear coat into the color, polishing can't fix it, and we'll steer you to a repaint of that area instead.
